JUJU
"GOTH BOOTS, BLACK TOP WITH BIG SAFETY PINS, AND COMBAT PANTS. SHE INTRODUCED EACH SONG WITH AN ALMOST PIXIE-ISH TONE, A SURPRISINGLY POLITE AND VERY ENGLISH VOICE"
We first met JUJU at a show that one of our founders, ELI, was also playing. He immediately liked her style. She sang these dark, moody songs wearing all black.
When she sang it was from somewhere deep and almost hidden. It's as if all the other deeper and darker emotions are kept private, just for the songs.
When she spoke, it made you forget for a moment that the songs even came from her.
It's like there are two different people — the JUJU that performs through catharsis and the JUJU that responds to the family nickname she owns to remember where she came from.
We've always found that dichotomy so interesting.
"THE VOICE IS FRAGILE AND TENDER, BUT WHEN GIVEN HALF THE CHANCE IT KICKS THE DOORS OPEN. SHE BLURS THE LINES BETWEEN STORYTELLING AND SELF."
shy yet confident

SHY YET CONFIDENT, AT HER CORE SHE REALLY CARES ABOUT ART AND CREATIVES
She's somebody who can seem so shy yet so confident, but at her core really cares about art and creatives in general.
Take "Butterfly," for example. The vocal is delivered with an angelic squeak, more reserved and almost out of the corner of her mouth. While "Red Light" is hyper-pronounced, making sure the point is clear, completely taking the roof off by belting over the cymbals.
It's akin to bands like The Jezabels, but more goth. Emotive rock guitars and cinematic live drums with hypnotic and semi-tantric lyrical phrasing.
Her performances are like watching someone either finally let their skeletons out or channel another entity. The fact we don't know which is intended makes the performance and her as a person interesting and exciting.
WE AT NUTHN PRFKT THINK JUJU IS DOPE.
